Connect ChatGPT to the Prepr MCP server

Add Prepr as a custom MCP app in ChatGPT, authorize access to your environment, and test the connection.

Custom MCP app availability and setup permissions depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace role. You may need a workspace admin to enable developer mode or publish the app.

Enable developer mode

In ChatGPT, open Settings, go to Apps, then open Advanced settings and enable developer mode.

Follow OpenAI’s developer mode and MCP apps guide for current plan availability, workspace permissions, testing, and publishing steps.

Create a custom app

Create a custom MCP app using:

Name: Prepr
Remote MCP server URL: https://mcp.prepr.io

Authorize access

Complete the OAuth flow and select the Prepr environment you want ChatGPT to access.

The actions ChatGPT can perform depend on your Prepr user role permissions and the actions enabled for the app in ChatGPT.

Send your first request

To confirm that ChatGPT can access your Prepr environment, send the following prompt:


Find the five most recently updated content items in Prepr
and show their titles and publication statuses.

ChatGPT can use the tools exposed by the Prepr MCP server to inspect your environment and work with your content.

The server also inspects the AI context defined in your environment settings to interpret requests more accurately.
