From this guide, you’ll learn how Claude Desktop can work with your Prepr content through the Prepr MCP server, so you can manage content items, assets, and schema using plain-language prompts.
Connecting Claude Desktop to the Prepr MCP server
Follow the steps below to add Prepr as a custom connector in Claude Desktop, authorize access to your Prepr environment, and test the connection with your first request.
Open the connector settings
In Claude Desktop, open Customize, then select Connectors.
In the search bar, enter Prepr CMS and click the + button. This opens a browser window to confirm your request. Click the Continue connecting button to confirm access to your Prepr environment.
Authorize access
Complete the OAuth flow and select the Prepr environment you want Claude to access.
The actions Claude can perform depend on your Prepr user role permissions and the MCP server permissions of the environment.
Send your first request
To confirm that Claude Desktop can access your Prepr environment, send the following prompt:
Find the five most recently updated content items in Prepr
and show their titles and publication statuses.Claude Desktop can use the tools exposed by the Prepr MCP server to inspect your environment and work with your content.
The server also inspects the AI context defined in your environment settings to interpret requests more accurately.
